Congratulations to the Class of 2020!

The 2020 graduation looked quite different than previous years, but the result was just as incredible. In drive-in style with sound broadcast over FM radio, YATC celebrated the accomplishments of the 41st Class, a group of dedicated students who finished the program in spite of the constraints of COVID-19. Many friends, family, Board of Directors and staff joined the August 20 ceremony via Zoom.

Parked in front of the YATC facility, graduates waited with families in their cars before stepping out to receive their diplomas. Honking horns and revving engines replaced the usual clapping as each graduate took a moment to be recognized.

Micah Pinnock (above) received the Volunteer Service Award, a new recognition given to a graduate who is community minded and goes the extra mile to help others. Yvenson Chouloute also received the Volunteer Service Award, developed to honor longtime YATC volunteer Luz “Lucy” Torres, who passed away in 2019.

Special graduate awards were also presented to:De-Yhandre Bryant – Bruce Rossmeyer Memorial Kickstart Scholarship recognizing his exceptional academic achievement, De-Yhandre will receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend technical or vocational training.

Yvenson Chouloute – Outstanding Attendance Award
Je-Voughn McGregor – Jump Start Award recognizing an exceptional gain of automotive technical knowledge and readiness for a career in the automotive industry.
Richky Pierre – Turnabout Award, acknowledging his tremendous overall change since starting the program.
